We have two Tai Chi groups: Intermediate and Advanced. We all play the Cheng Man Ching short form Tai Chi sequence and the Advanced group also play the Cheng Man Ching Long Form which takes just under 20 mins to play.

We start our sessions with warm up exercises, Qi Gong and various sets and then go deeper into some aspect of a Tai Chi form before playing the whole sequence.

We meet from September to July, and during the holiday periods we play early morning in Fletcher Park when the weather allows.

Sadly there is no provision for beginners or near beginners at present within the u3a, but if you'd like to learn Tai Chi there are other groups who take beginners in and around Kendal. For more details, or advice on beginning Tai Chi, contact Jane by email above

We have been learning a tai Chi Short Form for three years now and are still refining and deepening our practice! It is the form originally developed by Cheng Man-Ching ( known as the 37 step sequence) and later adapted by Dr Chi to make a 47 step sequence.

We always begin our class with some Qi Gong to loosen up.

If you have played a similar form before, you would be most welcome to join our group.

There is a video to help you catch up.

We play both short and a Long Form ( originally developed by Chen Man-ching and adapted by Dr Chi) and we know a range of Qi Gong Sets. Most of us have been together for many years, and we continually strive to deepen and refine our practice.

If you are an experienced Tai Chi player and have played a similar Long Form in the past, you would be welcome to visit our group and see whether it would be suitable for you.
