We play, amongst other things, board games, card games and tiled games. Nothing electrical or computerised.

We have played, to mention but a few, games such as Cluedo, Monopoly, Scrabble, to a more recently found game, Rummikub. We have also played various card games.

Most games are for up to 4 players per game, but some will play with more, we also have multiple packs of some of the games.

Most games can be learnt in 5 - 10 minutes, so no previous experience required, just a desire to join in for fun, conversation and companionship.

If you have a game at home you would like to bring along and show us, you are most welcome, we are always on the lookout for something new.

We only meet during the Autumn/Winter months of October until March inclusive.

From the Coordinator

The TTGG started up in November 2023, but whilst numbers are currently low, we have had some excellent fun and quite a few laughs on the way. But there are a couple of things I would like to raise and hopefully allay any concerns about joining in.

First and foremost, prior knowledge and experience of any and all these games, is not necessary, just the desire to join in and have fun whether it is playing an old favourite, or learning something new. We have around 15 - 20 different game-sets, but card games make this number so much higher

Second, all games are non-electronic, I am not into that aspect, and have no desire for that either. Board games, card games and tiled games, they, in my opinion, are the best and easiest to play.

The games themselves, the game of Rummikub has been a new and popular one to quite a few members, it takes all of 20 - 30 minutes to play a single game, and is easily picked up. Card dominoes, again, relatively new to some members, but very easy to play, each game takes about 10 minutes to complete.

I would like to invite you to come along and join in, we meet in the Abbot Hall Social Centre on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday afternoon of each month up to, and including, March, the sessions run from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Current cost is £2.50 per session. Refreshments are available around mid-session, for a cost of 20p.

As I said earlier, come along and join in with an old favourite, perhaps you could teach us something new, or bring along a game that you have at home. You never know, if you have younger relations, you may be able to raise a few eyebrows next time you meet up and challenge them to a new game, or two.

Thank you for having a read, and I hope to see some of you in the new year.

Kind regards
David Atkinson"
