The group has grown steadily over the last four years and most of the members admit to having initially known nothing about the Hanoverian (or Georgian) period before they joined - and that includes me. 

We've covered so many fascinating topics, thanks to the fabulous speaking team who have been 'persuaded' to help me present talks to this very friendly and welcoming group of people.  Just a few of those topics this year: Smuggling; The Luddites; Theatre; Thomas Telford; Pedestrianism . .  and more.  Very few (or maybe none?) of the 'speakers' are specialists in history - we just do the 'u3a thing' of volunteering to share with others the topics that we've enjoyed finding out about.
