Are you interested in who your ancestors were, where they lived and what their occupations were?  Do you have a family mystery that you want to solve?

We are a group of amateur family historians sharing experiences, knowledge and skills of delving into the past to discover our ancestors and their lives.  We help each other discover where records exist, how to access them, how to overcome the difficulties, and how to record our information in order to build up a picture of our ancestors for future generations.  Members share success stories and those more experienced help others when they get stuck.

We hold formal meetings over the winter on a variety of topics, and informal Q&A sessions in a local café in the summer.  Sometimes we arrange trips to conferences and records offices and have occasional visiting speakers.

Since October 2025 the programme has covered different ways of recording research, members research with surprising stories, Scottish records, war service research and issues caused by illegitimacy.

New members, whether complete beginners or experienced genealogists, are very welcome at our monthly group.  Please email admin (as above) to check availability beforehand as we are limited by numbers”
